Do you like working as a volunteer? If yes, volunteerism is the best thing you could do to provide your services to the society or at least you can contribute on your part. Following are some tricks and tips for finding such work.
1. IDENTIFICATION OF THE CAUSE
What exactly you have in mind? Do you have your reservations regarding any social issue? Or you feel for some problems out there, and you want to change them? Is your feeling strong enough to make a change and do things better? Will you stick to that cause or do you just want to do it for fun? These are the enquiries you ought to ask yourself before joining any cause.
2. DETERMINATION OF THE TIME
Do you have time for what you are going to start? Can you take time out of your school/college schedule? Or if you are already working somewhere would you be able to give time to this cause? If yes, do you like to join as a full-time volunteer or would you like to donate a short span of time? You should ask yourself if you want to work on the weekly or monthly basis.
3. APPROACH RELEVANT ORGANISATIONS
Once you have identified your cause and decided your working hours, you should start looking up the people or officialdoms you would like to work for. Search the organizations which are already working on the issues close to your heart. You can check online too.
4. FIND THE RIGHT JOB
Find something you enjoy doing. Start with the issues you feel strongly for.
5. USE YOUR SKILLS TO THE FULLEST
Note down the things you can do the best and discuss these points with the coordinators at work.
• You might be good at communicating or dealing with people.
• You might enjoy working with computers and technology.
• You might want to handle the accounts.
6. GET READY FOR CHALLENGES
Do not get disappointed with the situation at work. Some nonprofit organisations are a bit disorganised. If you will get bored in the starting of your job it won’t be a good sign.
7. PERSONAL GROWTH SHOULD NOT BE COMPROMISED
At times you have to work with people who are from a different background as yours. They might be less educated than you and want to bring you down.
