“Far too fast and unfocused.” Outgoing Prime Minister Rutte and outgoing Minister De Jonge are waiting for a lot of criticism in the House of Representatives. Parliament interrupts the summer recess to grill the two ministers about the corona policy of recent weeks.
On Friday, the outgoing cabinet was forced to reverse a large part of the relaxation because the number of infections is rising way too fast. As a result, clubs and discos had to close their doors again to control the advance of the delta variant of the coronavirus.
That decision resulted in a storm of criticism for the cabinet, so much so that Rutte and De Jonge apologized for it on Monday. The House of Representatives also wants to debate it and is interrupting the summer recess that started last Friday.
