Lion kills employee in the American reception centre A 22-year-old employee was killed by a lion on Sunday in an American rescue centre for giant predators after the animal managed to jump from a confined space. The lion has been shot.
The centre in Caswell County in the state of North Carolina stated in a comment that there is still investigation to be done on how the lion could escape from the closed residence.
The 22-year-old woman has been working at the shelter for two weeks. She was cleaning the lion house with more experienced staff, while the animals were in a different room. The lion managed to escape from there and shortly thereafter killed the employee.
Staff at the shelter tried to stun the lion. When several attempts failed, police officers shot the lion to death. This way the body of the woman could be recovered.
