Pope Francis has said at the end of a three-day conference on combating child abuse among clergy that no cases should be concealed anymore.
It can no longer prevent the abuse from being glossed over or downplayed, according to the church prince. He called for a “frontal fight” against crimes that “must be swept away from the earth”.
The Pope said in the closing speech that there are relatively few abuse scandals within the Church, but that every case of child abuse is one too many.
According to the Pope, paedophilia is devilish and cruel and reminds us of the horrible human sacrifices that were made in some past cultures. In many cases, children were sacrificed.
