According to the authors of the book ‘ Finding Freedom ‘, the fact that Meghan Markle (40) was unable to attend Prince Philip’s funeral in April due to her second pregnancy was a blessing to the British royal family. Authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand have added that to the book they previously wrote about Harry (36) and Meghan.
While Meghan’s absence was not openly discussed, there was said to have been a sigh of relief within the family when it emerged that the Duchess of Sussex would not be travelling to England to attend the funeral. However, after she and Harry gave an explosive interview to Oprah Winfrey, relations within the family were tense. There was especially concern that the attention of Prince Philip would be diverted during his funeral.
When Philip died on April 9 at the age of 99, he was taken to his final resting place on April 17. Harry flew to London to pay his grandfather one last tribute. Despite all the tension from the interview Harry and Meghan gave not long before, the brothers William and Harry seemed “pleasant” with each other to the camera.
