Serena Williams easy to fourth round in Melbourne

Serena Williams has put himself without much struggle for the fourth round of the Australian Open. The 23-time Grand Slam winner defeated Ukrainian Dayana Yastremska 6-2 6-1.

Williams wants to at least equal the record number of Grand Slam victories of Margaret Court (24) this year. The eighteen-year-old Yastremska was no match for the former number one in the world. She only finished three games. In the two previous parties, the American gave a total of only six games as a gift.

The 37-year-old Williams could meet her older sister Venus Williams (38) in the fourth round. She will play against the Romanian number one of the world Simona Halep on Saturday. Naomi Osaka, the number four in the world, was close to eliminating Su-Wei Hsieh from Taiwan (5-7, 6-4 and 6-2) in Melbourne.

The US Open-winner was behind in the second set with 2-4 when she eliminated three game points from the Taiwanese and still won the set and even the game. The 21-year old Osaka was stranded last year in the fourth round.

This edition she will meet the Latvian Anastasija Sevastova. The number twelve in the world won from Chinese Qiang Wang 6-3 and 6-3. Ukrainian Elina Svitolina was too strong for Chinese Shuai Zhang in three sets: 4-6, 6-4 and 7-5.
